Le corps et la mélancolie
Four couples trace the anatomy of melancholia: They show the body as an object of desire and disillusionment where nudity evokes mannerist statues and medical slaps, chessboards and frozen lakes. They depict, passionlessly, the finite nature of flesh and the measure of its dizzying force. Melancholia is to be found somewhere between death and desire. It’s a desire that is aware of its own mortality.
This short work is restaging of a part of the full-evening-length performance, Contre Saturne created by Cie Mossoux-Bonté in 1996.
