Injonction III

Brussels, February 2000 : twelve dancers head upstream from the North to the South station against the current of travellers and commuters. A video installation later retraced the performance : for the three train stations, three screens, visible from both sides, between which the visitors could roam.

Injonction III is a mise en abîme of the different observable layers from the stations’ surroundings, the everyday passers-by, the incongruous presence of dancers to the interlocking of the frames and the doubling of images, trying to make us go through the looking glass of appearances.
